Final Thoughts

I am very sad that my abroad experience has come to a close, but I extremely grateful to have had the opportunity. I would like to thank everyone who made it happen and made it so special, most notably my parents and Pitt Business for the generous scholarship.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful my experience was. I got to spend three months in a beautiful country where I learned a lot and met some amazing people. I really enjoyed how my program was constructed, it made it really easy to make a lot of amazing friends who I hope to remain in contact. My apartment was really nice and all of my roommates formed a tight bond.

I come from a very small town in the middle of nowhere, and while Pittsburgh has a lot to offer it just doesn’t match up to the size and diversity of Sydney and the plethora of activities it provides. I was never bored and I was always having fun.

I have learned that I really want to travel more and see as much of the world as I can. I learned that I am a better people person than I  had previously thought. This experience opened me up to people with vastly different personalities and taught me how to better navigate the complexity of human interaction in both a formal and informal setting.

I really enjoyed my classes and professors and I learned a lot of interesting things about Australian history and culture. All of my classes had an international aspect of some sort adding a new perspective I could not have learned in classes in the US.

This program greatly developed me professionally and provided me with valuable experience that I hope to put to use in my education and especially my career. I learned a lot of marketing skills, which I would not have learned here because I am not a marketing major. Digital marketing is a huge aspect of modern business and the technical skills I gained allow me to view things through a marketing lens.

My abroad experience really enforced a plan I already had in mind, starting my own business. I now know for sure that I want to start up a business at some point in the future. I want to be involved in every part of the business, and I want to be my own boss doing something I am passionate about.

My three months in Sydney were arguably the greatest three months of my young life. I will cherish every moment of the trip and use all the knowledge I have gained to make myself a better student, employee, and person. I think studying abroad is something every student should experience. It provides you with something different than the status quo and allows you to grow as a person. Not to mention you get to have the time of your life and meet some amazing people in the process. I am so grateful for this experience and am very satisfied with my decision to study abroad in beautiful Sydney. Cheers mates!
