Endless Fish & Chips in London

Hey everyone!

This weekend I was so happy to be able to return to one of my favorite cities in the world, London! I first visited London about 3 years ago when I was still in high school on a school trip and absolutely loved every second of it. Being able to return now during my time abroad was not something I thought would be possible, but, with the help of some cheap flights from Ryan Air, actually happened! It was especially hectic as it was the weekend of the royal wedding, which made the city extra crowded. Although I’d be willing to bet that most of my friends watching from home in America probably saw more of the wedding than myself…oops.

This is partly because the city has so much to offer! There are so many cool neighborhoods and streets to explore, I only wish I had more time. My favorite of all the areas we went was SOHO or the West End. It reminded me a lot of the SOHO in New York back home, which I love to go to every time I’m in the city.  The West End had countless fun shops to explore and tons of musicals/shows throughout the streets. It is located near Piccadilly Circus and had lots of beautiful views to see. Coming in a close second, Camden was also a really cool neighborhood to explore. It has a bit of a grungy feel to it with lot of good local beer and an exciting night life. We stumbled across a food truck festival going along the canal with some of the best street food I have ever seen! I would highly recommend an afternoon there.

Speaking of delicious food, London is home to some of the worlds best Indian food in the world and was something I knew from the start of the trip that I wanted to try. Me and my friends went to an incredible Indian food restaurant called Dishoom, but be warned, we lucked out on the waiting time for a table. If we had showed up even fifteen minutes later, the line would be out the door with over an hour wait. It’s that good! I think this all comes back to a trend I have fallen into during my time abroad, I have become addicted to spicy food. I just love it and would do anything for some spicy wings. I think the first thing I’ll do when I get back to Pittsburgh is go to half off wing night at Stack’d…I just miss it so much.

There were so many things to do in London, I just hope I get to go back someday. It was possibly my favorite trip so far!
