GBI meets IIP

This past week was an interesting, fun, and challenging one. I have been sick for a while and finally went to a doctor. It was hard because I missed out on Giant’s Causeway last Sunday because I was so sick. I went to the doctor and hopefully I will start feeling better. The health care system here isn’t super different than the US so it wasn’t hard to figure out here. This week at my internship flew by because there is a lot going on at the company, but in the best way possible. I am getting design tasks from the CEO himself and helping out a lot around the office. I am thoroughly enjoying myself there and I am so happy with where I was placed.

These past two days one of my best friends who is doing GBI London, visited me in Dublin. It was great because I got to show Juliana around the city I love so much and see some of the places I haven’t seen yet. I took her to Grafton Street, Temple Bar, Guinness Storehouse, Book of Kells, Trinity College, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Jervis shopping center, and so much more. It was an amazing two days filled with so much food and laughter.

Traveling around Dublin has been interesting so far. I feel like I have gotten a very good understanding of the bus system and where a decent number of places are and how to get to them. Dublin never fails to impress me. It is such a clean city and I feel so safe even if I’m walking around by myself. All the buildings are so unique, and the doors are all different colors. One of my favorite things are the doors. It seems very simple because doors are just, well doors, but here they are all unique and elegant and all different colors. Walking down the street there are so many different performers. We saw a man that brought a mini grand piano. There was also a really good band on Grafton Street that had an amazing singer and guitarist. I was so amazing to see. We also tried a lot of amazing food. It was hard at first because where we planned on eating was closed and we kind of panicked, but we ended up at some absolutely amazing restaurants that I will definitely be going back to.

I’m hoping to start traveling more out of the country. Travelling around Dublin hasn’t been too difficult especially when I got the hang of things (and Google Maps help). I am excited to step outside of my comfort zone and face some challenges when it comes to traveling since so far it hasn’t been anything too bad.
