Establishing Myself in the Office

I can’t believe we are just about halfway through the program. I don’t know how to quite describe it because it feels like time has zoomed by but also gone by slowly. I think it may be due to the combination of the fact that while I love it here, I also miss home. This in itself is a weird idea to me. I thought that if I loved it here so much I wouldn’t miss home. But I also love my life in the US, so I guess its not a bad that to have those conflicting emotions.

Ok, whatever, enough of that. In the office the first couple weeks, my bosses had me doing stereotypical intern work. I have no complaints here, its part of the job and it has to get done. However, I was lucky enough to be able to express my interest and skills in graphic design. And by doing so, I have been able to use my skills to complete projects that interest me. Now they have me redesigning their website and working on various promotional materials. I am really grateful for this experience because it is allowing me to complete meaningful work that I can include in my portfolio.

For example, the feature photo shows the front and back covers of a brochure I got to design for the theatre’s upcoming shows!
