All over Ireland

This has been a very fast paced week but a really great one! Monday morning my parents landed so right after work I went to meet them in town for dinner at the Hairy Lemon, hands down my favorite pub/restaurant in Dublin. Did some walking around with them, it was really nice to see them after being away for eight weeks. Tuesday was basically the same thing but then Wednesday they met me down in Dun Laoghaire after work and I got to show them around where I work and a different part of Ireland since they had only been in Dublin for the first three days. Thursday after work we headed for the bus to go out to Adare. It was an experience to say the least haha. It said the bus location was at one spot when it clearly wasn’t, and we had to run across town and we still weren’t sure exactly where it was. This was the first really bad experience I have had with travel. It was just super stressful whereas before my worst experience was my bus from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh was 4 hours late. It was really stressful, but I had to keep calm because I was the only one in my family who really knew where I was going We eventually caught our bus and were on time, but it was a stressful evening to say the least.

We finally got to Adare, which is one of the most beautiful little towns I’ve ever seen. We are staying in the country house which is a beautiful bread and breakfast in Adare. Friday, we went down to Kinsale to explore the town and try some of the seafood. It was worth the trip, but it was a little long, four hours round trip. Saturday has been my favorite day. We went to the Cliffs of Moher. We started by going to Doolin where we took a ferry to the Aran Islands. We didn’t get to see all of them, but we went to the first one that only has about 200 people living on it. We rented bikes and rode around the island. It was absolutely beautiful with the clearest water I have ever seen in my life. After, the ferry took us around the bottom of the Cliffs of Moher and I may have cried a little because it was so beautiful. But mostly because I love Harry Potter and part of one of the movies was filmed there.

After, we were absolutely exhausted because it had been a long day, but we had to see the tops of the cliffs as well. We made the venture up then finally went back to Adare.

Today was really rough. Woke up absolutely exhausted. Travelling really takes a lot out of you but you never want to take days off because you don’t want to miss anything. Today we did the Ring of Kerry. For my family I am known as the navigator because I have a very good sense of direction and am very good with maps, even if our GPS loses signal. It was definitely stressful because I wanted to enjoy the views, but I had to help navigate so I had to multitask. It was definitely worth it as it was stunning. The first half was a little boring, but the second half was absolutely stunning.

At home I do a lot of hiking, but Killarney National Park is hands down the most beautiful park I have ever seen. It made all those hours in the car worth it. This weekend with traveling and spending countless hours in the car, changed how I view travelling. I learned no matter what you just have to power through the sleepiness to get as much out of the journey as you can.
