Today’s class was truly informative. Our guest speakers were incredibly familiar with the concepts of innovation and brought a lot of information to share. Being unfamiliar with the Innovation Institute, today proved to be immensely helpful in furthering my understanding. I was particularly impressed with Blake’s story and his ability to pitch Aeronics so well.
Today was our in-class pitch day too. It was nerve-wracking! I have a slight fear of public speaking, so I walked into it with a healthy amount of stress. I tried to market my product as one that was relevant and useful, with the ability to reach a brought customer base. I found it relatively easy to communicate because the product is relevant to today’s technological megatrend. Everything went smoothly and thankfully my classmates weren’t too grueling with the after-presentation questions. My efforts proved successful and my company, Charge!, was selected as a final contender in the competition. My team going forward is Alex, Will, Katie, and myself. (We’re ready to win!)
Today’s presentation put my composure and public speaking skills to the test. I think those skills will be useful in any job setting so the ability to put them to practice now is incredibly beneficial. After today’s guests, I am less interested in starting a business. Entrepreneurship is tasking and the rate of failure seems to outweigh the successes. I think I want to major in marketing and today’s experience further confirmed this.
I am excited to take on the rest of the week!
