I still can’t believe I’ve been here in this beautiful place for over a month already! It’s so crazy to think that in about 2 months I’ll be making my way back home to Pittsburgh! I’m trying my best to make the most of my time here. The past two weekends I have traveled around Europe. The first of February was my very first trip outside of the UK. I went with a group to Paris, France! The most recent weekend, the 8th of February, my friends and I went to Budapest, Hungary. They were both such amazing experiences and I loved so many things about both. My favorite thing out of both trips as a whole was probably the Eiffel Tower. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how big it was and how magnificent it looked at night time!
Packing for these trips was fairly simple because they were just for weekends. I just took my backpack both times, which is super convenient. There also weren’t many complications with getting around these countries. In Paris, we were given all day metro passes, and the metros weren’t terribly difficult to figure out because they were somewhat like the tube. In Budapest, we were really centrally located, so we could walk to a lot, but we also used Taxis a lot to get to places not in walking distance.
Some advice for people looking to travel outside of the UK while abroad is to just go! You might not find friends right away here, and that’s okay if you don’t, but there are still a lot of opportunities for you to go and see Europe. It’s so convenient to travel around, but too much of a good thing can be bad, so definitely limit yourself or you’ll be looking for a weekend to dedicate to sleep. Spring break is next weekend, and I’m very excited to be going to Greece, Italy, and Spain for the week! I haven’t been to Spain since the summer after I graduated high school, so I’m exhilarated to go back to my first European country! It will be like going home hopefully, and I get the opportunity to see how rusty my Spanish is!
