My Weekend in Paris

At one point all of my friends had family members visiting, except me. So I called my mom and told her I would be all alone and she suggested she come for a long weekend and we could go to Paris together. I was really excited to see my mom and go to Paris with her. The trip started off like any other, we met up at the train station and took the Eurostar across the channel. When we got there my mom was craving foie gras, France is really the only place you can get good foie gras. For those of you who don’t know what foie gras is, it’s duck liver. I know the first time I heard my mom like that I was disgusted. But you know what they say, when in Rome, and i guess in this case when in Paris. I decided to try it and all I can say is I can’t wait to go back to Paris for the foie gras. Now that I’ve tried something that I never thought I would like, I decided to try escargot. Which are snails and they were covered in delicious garlic making the snails super tasty. Escargot and foie gras are now one of my favorite foods, but I think I overdid it in the short time I was in Paris. So at this point the trip had been going really well, and my mom and I decided to go to a fancy restaurant for breakfast on the Champs Elysees near the Arc de Triomphe. That was not the best idea we could have had because one of the worst riots from the yellow vest was happening on the street below us. I witnessed people throwing bricks of concrete into store fronts, shattering the glass and then they would steal the merchandise. They even set a bank, a fancy restaurant, and a well known high end bag company on fire, destroying the entire store and everything inside. My mom and I decided to get as far away as we could as possible, so we went to the other side of the river, which was hard to get to because every street we went down there were at least 3 police officers barricading the street and we had to ask to walk through. We also had to do that on our way back to our hotel and show them our passports and the hotel reservation email. Sunday came around and we had to take the Eurostar back to London, which was also difficult because the French custom workers were on strike and took two extra hours to make it back home. Other than that the trip was really nice time and had really nice food, what made my trip perfect was that my mom was there.
