Bienvenue à Paris: CEA Paris Introduction

Bonjour!

Today marks my fifth day in Paris. I have dreamed of living in Paris for years and I can not believe that I am finally here!

As I grew up, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel with my family and visit various family members around the globe. As I lived in and around New York City and Philadelphia, I began to develop a love for big cities in addition to my love for travel. In 8th grade I began to study French, and I fell in love with the language and the culture. After a few years, I knew that studying abroad in Paris was something that I wanted to get out of my college experience.

At the University of Pittsburgh, I am a junior majoring in Accounting and Business Information Systems. During my time at the College of Business Information, I have completed a tax internship as well as a general accounting internship with the Philadelphia Flyers. This upcoming summer I will be working as an assurance intern in Philadelphia. Outside the business school, I have a minor in French Language and Literature. During this semester abroad, I am aiming to improve my French language skills as well as experience living in Paris while absorbing as much French culture as I can.

CEA Paris was the perfect program for me because it offers a variety of programs in Paris that offer combinations of CEA-taught classes in both English and French as well as classes at the Sorbonne and the Institut Catholique de Paris. My program consists of classes taught entirely in French at the Institut Catholique. My schedule consists of  one French language class as well as a few additional electives. These classes will be taken with other American students as well as other various foreign students. The reason I chose this program is the immersion that classes taught entirely French will provide. Throughout this program, I hope to develop my French language skills, and learn more about the academic environment in France and the daily workings of living in Paris. One day, I would love to continue my studies or work abroad in France or another francophone country, and I hope this study abroad experience will give me a taste of what this future could look like.

À bientôt!
