I’m Landon Cook. I am an incoming freshman into the University of Pittsburgh’s Business program. I am undecided in my specific business major; however, I do plan to double major in Philosophy. I graduated with the International Baccalaureate Diploma from Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida. I am an avid soccer player and fan, I love to draw and paint, and I have a minor(maybe major) obsession with flags and maps. As far as my future career goes, I am uncertain of what I want to do specifically, but I do know that the business world fascinates me, and I hope to create a positive impact on our world. That impact can start right now with the Haller Fellowship Program.
I chose to apply to the Haller Fellowship because I knew it would be a great way to gain exposure to new people and information while helping others in the process. As my peers and I hopped on a Zoom call for a client meeting with the Southwark Pensioners Centre, I could tell we had a great potential client who needed our help. I am on a team of 4 that will focus on increasing the SPC’s outreach to potential volunteers, especially those of the younger demographic. As our group’s manager, I am tasked with making sure the group is organized and where we need to be. My number one goal is to help the SPC continue to make a difference in their community while guiding them towards growth and success. During the journey I hope to create new friends, build valuable networks, and acquire new knowledge. Judging by the experiences I have had already, I know these goals are entirely possible. I am both confident and excited for what the Haller Fellowship will bring.
