Hi! I am Alex Cattabiani and I am going to be a senior at the University of Pittsburgh next year. I am double majoring in both Marketing and Finance and I have a certificate in Digital Media. I am currently studying abroad this summer in London!

I am in the Pitt Global Business Institute (GBI) Program where I have been placed in a class and internship while I am abroad. This program is perfect for me because the course that I am taking is an International Marketing course. I was planning on taking this course back at campus in Pittsburgh, but I figured what better place to take a course about marketing your product to different countries while in a different country! And, as a student going into my senior year of college it is crucial that I obtain some internship experience to grow as a business professional while building my resume.
For my Internship I have been placed with Rainbow Designs – and office furniture provider. I am going to be the company’s marketing intern where I will manage their social media accounts and build their SEO. One of Rainbow Designs clients is Southampton – a football club in the Premiere League here in England. My supervisor has invited me to travel to the stadium on Wednesday as they are going to shoot the club suite that they helped furnish and design so I am very excited for this unique experience and I will be sure to tell you guys about my visit in future blogs!

Throughout my internship I hope to achieve several goals. I want to build up the company’s social media in a way that they will be able to easily and effectively post and build their brand long after I am gone. I also want to help drive traffic to their website. There are a lot of competitors in the industry so you have to fight to get clients. One of my goals to help them reach more potential clients is through content marketing via blog posts. I am going to write a blog a week featuring the company’s different products and offerings. These blogs will help inform potential customers while also giving Rainbow Designs exposure in the industry.
I did end up arriving about 10 days late to London due to some issues with my visa, but I am here now and making the most of this opportunity! Yesterday I went and saw Big Ben, the London Eye, and Parliament buildings.

I am very excited to continue exploring the great city of London and grow both academically and professionally during my stay!
