I have officially been in Dublin for a full week now, and tomorrow is finally the first day of my internship. Over this past week, I have attended orientation, played different Gaelic games, and went on a trip to Glendalough and Kilkenny. Each of these events has been a lot of fun, but I am prepared to start my internship now! I have been preparing for the first day for quite a bit now, so I am eager to get started on my work, meet my colleagues, and get comfortable with the tasks I will be completing day-to-day there. I have been excited about this opportunity for so long, and I cannot wait to get started tomorrow.
The first day of my internship will allow me to gain a better sense of my responsibilities, explore the building I am working in, meet all of my colleagues, and start my daily tasks. I also plan on giving myself plenty of time to get ready in the morning and make the commute to my internship on the first day so I can make sure that I get there on time, if not early. I have already practiced my commute to my internship, so I feel very prepared and comfortable getting to work on time each morning. The commute is nearly an hour, which is much longer than I am used to commuting for work, so I will have to wake up early and get ready for work earlier than I am used to. I also need to plan out meals that I will be bringing to work every day, so I will need to manage time around that as well.
During the first few days of my internship, I plan on learning exactly what my responsibilities will be as an intern, so I know exactly what to expect each day I come into work, and so I can properly allocate time to complete my tasks for the day. I plan on talking to my supervisor and other colleagues about what is expected of me each day so that I can properly manage my time at work. After the first week of my internship, I hope to have become comfortable and adjusted to my work schedule. By the end of this week, I also hope that I have an organized schedule for each day of work, so I know what to expect each day. I will feel more accomplished in my time management when I know exactly what time I need to leave to get to my internship, the attire I should wear, and my everyday tasks.
After this week, I plan on creating a calendar that I plan and organize each week to help arrange my tasks and ensure that I complete everything in a timely manner. I plan on doing this once I have a better understanding of my daily tasks and when I can organize my agenda based on this. Once I have a better grasp on my daily agenda, it will be easier for me to manage my time and organize my weekly calendar. This calendar will also allow me to stay organized in my internship and stay on top of my daily tasks without falling behind and procrastinating.
While at my internship, I plan on making use of all the time I have there to complete the tasks that I am assigned for the day. I have been able to strengthen my time management skills throughout my years at school, so I believe that I will have very little trouble completing the tasks I will be assigned each day at my internship. Although I have yet to know what my expectations are from my supervisor each day, I believe I will be able to properly manage to prioritize my tasks since I have had to do the same in school. I plan on using each day at my internship effectively, with little time spent sitting around or doing nothing.
Over the course of my internship, I plan on growing accustomed to my everyday work schedule and understanding which tasks I need to prioritize. After the first few days of my internship, I believe that I will be able to plan ahead and organize my daily tasks based on what is my top priority. Even though I am getting anxious to start my internship and get accustomed to my new schedule, I believe I will be able to efficiently manage my time and prioritize my responsibilities after my first week of working.
