Dublin Activities

Only two more week to go. This past week was one of our busier week/weekends in Dublin. On Wednesday, my boyfriend came to visit me for a week, and I got to show him where I have been the past six weeks. I showed him my favorite restaurants and pubs. On Wednesday, we got tickets to see SZA in a field near a castle. It was super fun, and a great atmosphere. We had so much fun, except for the journey home because everyone was trying to get on the dart, and then on the bus, so it was a whole extravaganza. The next day, was The Fourth of July, so we all dressed in red, white, and blue and went out to pubs.

The weekend was packed with so many fun activities. On Friday, my boyfriend and I went to a pub and watched the Spain and Germany soccer game. I was sad to see that Germany lost:( Then some of us went to see a Laughter Lounge show. This was so fun, and I was exited to see a show for the company that I work for. I have seen videos and podcasts, but it was so different being in person. I was afraid we would not understand some of the jokes, but it was really good and the comedians geared towards American jokes. Some of my friends even got called out and talked about. Then on Saturday we had a whole day of Game of Thrones. It was a 12 hour tour of us seeing different filming spots of the first season episodes of the Game of Thrones. I have personally never seen Game of Thrones, but it was still entertaining and made me want to start watching. We got to wear our own cloaks, which sometimes was a bit embarrassing as everyone was staring at us, but it was funny. We also got to hold swords that were similar to the ones in the show. It was a really fun experience, however, it was a very long day. Sunday came around, and we did not led up. We did the Viking Splash Tour in the morning, which was my boyfriends favorite activity of his trip. The tour guide was very entertaining, and it was fun to learn more about the city I have been living in. After the Viking Splash Tour, we went to the semifinals hurling game. Cork verse Limerick at the Croke Stadium which is one of the biggest stadiums in Europe. The atmosphere was electric and even though we were confused some of the time, we ended up getting the hang of it. Since it was a close game it made it even more interesting. We were excited to see the underdogs, Cork take the win.

This week of my internship was my last week with my supervisor as she has a trip planned to Bali that she was leaving for at the end of the week. During the beginning of the week, I created a presentation for a television documentary for the Laughter Lounge. This was very interesting to learn about, as it was about one of the comedians who is a host on the Laughter Lounge Podcast. He was a heroin addict, and even spent time in jail, but he has turned his life around, is married with kids, and is a very famous and well liked comedian. Last week, I also created BOGO mailers to send out and made a new and improved Christmas Flyer. I did something new this week, I made a presentation with data collection of ticket sales. I compared 2022, 2023, and 2024 ticket revenue, for the Laughter Lounge. I have really been enjoying the work I have been doing as it is something different everyday, and I have improved in my digital media skills.

I feel that my internship experience has helped improve my leadership style. My supervisor who is the manager of The Laughter Lounge has also shown me how to be a great leader. Although I did not lead a group or a project, I have learned more leadership skills that will help propel me in the future. My supervisor has shown me the balance between friendliness and directness towards her co-workers. She is not a leader that others are afraid of going up to, she is approachable and helpful. As I see her in her leadership role, I think that she has created a great atmosphere for everyone. Everyone is free to speak their mind, and also listen to constructive criticism. However, it is a fun environment with lots of craic and laughs. Personally, I have become much more independent and comfortable working on the tasks given to me. I have made instagram posts that have been posted for everyone to see. I have started to feel that I was actually being helpful and making an impact. This internship has given me a different perspective on what leadership is all about. It is not all about being the boss, but so much more.

I am so sad to see my time in Dublin coming to a close. It has gone way faster than I ever imagined. I am excited to finish out these two weeks in my internship, with my new friends, and ready to make the most out of my time left.
