Coming to a Close:(

WOW is all I can truly say at the moment. I am reaching my last few days in Ireland and I have so many different emotions. I am so thankful for this opportunity, I have made so many new friends, learned so much in my internship and started to say YES to things I would normally say no to!

This past weekend a group of my friends and I travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland. I have to say this was hands down one of my favorite places I have ever been to. The architecture was absolutely beautiful and the greenery was stunning. We took an early flight on Friday at 6:40 am, and landed in Scotland around 8:30. We grabbed some breakfast, and as the picky eater I am, I struggled a bit with the menu. I decided that I was going to step out of my comfort zone, and I shared a full Scottish breakfast with one of my friends. I was hesitant but one of my goals this summer was to try new foods, so here I am trying new foods. The eggs and sausage were good, but these were the two I was not worried about, along with the bacon which was delicious. Then, I tried the haggis, and it was not my favorite. I took two bites, and that was the extent of that. I also did not enjoy the black pudding, which by the way is not the normal pudding you are thinking of. However, I was proud that I tried everything, and although I did not like everything on the plate, I gave it a go. We then climbed up Arthurs Seat, which was definitely a workout. It was an absolute beautiful view once we finally reached the top. My favorite part was getting the ice cream at the bottom after the hike LOL. After, we had our self guided tour of the Edinburgh Castle. It was neat to see, and I enjoyed seeing the different parts of the castle. I for sure have gotten my fair share of castles during my time abroad. This was a jam packed day, as we started at 3:00 in the morning to get to the airport. We ended our day with an amazing dinner, of Scottish Italian food. The pizza was to die for. We found a fun bar spot with a ball pit and a slide. I felt like a kid again! It was so much fun!!

Saturday was another long day, some of us decided to take a 12 hour tour starting at 8:00am to see the highlands and Loch ness. Although most of the tour was us sitting on a bus for the majority of the time, it still a great time. The views were absolutely stunning and nothing like I have seen before. We took a stop and got to feed and pet some Coos. One of my friends accidentally got in the way of one of the coo’s horns, and got a nice little shinny bump on her head. However, now she can say she got clocked by a Coo. HAHA. Additionally, we took a boat cruise over Loch ness, but unfortunately Ms. Nessie must have been napping when we were out there because we did not spot her. It was a full day, as we went out that night as well to some fun different places.

Sunday was a bit more chill, we went shopping, and I bought a Santa playing the bagpipes. We saw Edinburgh University and Gardens. We got lucky, as we saw a cultural parade in the gardens. We were a bit confused as to what was going on, but it was cool to see how parades go about in other countries. Scotland is certainly a place I want to visit again and would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

In regards to my internship, I continued with making instagram posts, specifically for the Comedy Fundraisers for Charities. As I do these instagram posts, I learn more and more about all that The Laughter Lounge does. Furthermore, I completed another data collection project. I made a slideshow about the group revenue for each month and compared it between 2023 and 2024. Straying away from the comedy a bit, the CEO of The Laughter Lounge is trying to launch a Hole-In-One golf app. I helped with finding competitors, and did research with Hole-In-One Insurance. This was surely a change in pace which was nice.

I have mentioned this before, but as my time in my internship as gone on, I feel the low context is not as bad as we were told it was going to be. However, this might just be for my individual internship. My supervisor is very straight forward more so after I have completed the assignment as to what I need to change, rather than giving more guidance before. This was frustrating at the beginning, but as time has gone on, I have started to figure out the vibe of the Laughter Lounge, so I know how to create better and more accurate media posts. As I have also said before, their language and slang words are very different from ours. They use different words to describe different things. For example, in America we call them overalls, however here they call them dungarees. I have learned what “belter of a line up” means and I have used the words craic, deadly and unreal more in my vocabulary. This had definitely been a hard adjustment but I am getting the hang of it. I work in the office everyday, so I have not had any issues with the hybrid work environment. I am glad that I go in everyday, as it makes me more motivated to work and I enjoy being in the work office atmosphere.

I am going to soak up every last minute here with the time I have left, and I am going to continue saying YES to everything! This has been one of the best experiences and I am very happy I decided to step out of my comfort zone and come to Ireland.
