Hi, my name is Christopher McCay, and I am from Washington, PA. I attended high school at Peters Township, where I participated in the school’s horticulture and German clubs. I was also a part of my school’s student body, where I was elected treasurer. One of my favorite accomplishments in this position was raising funds to buy games that students could play in the courtyard during their free time. Throughout high school, I participated in my school’s varsity golf and swim teams. This past year, I was voted captain of the swim team, and I led the team to its best record in the last ten years. My favorite part about the team this year is how close everyone became during the season. After every meet, we would go out to Applebee’s for dinner and hang out with each other on the weekends. Participating in both of these sports gave me valuable leadership experience and experience dealing with.
During my sophomore year, I went on a study abroad trip to Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, where we visited some of Europe’s most famous landmarks. This trip made me fall in love with traveling abroad, which is one of the main reasons I applied for this program. The other reason that this program interested me is that my sister did a study abroad in Northern Ireland. Hearing about her experiences made me want to do as many study abroad programs as I could. In doing this program, I believe that I will have a solid foundation going into the fall semester and learn the skills I need to succeed in today’s job market.
