The Haller Program: Introducing Myself

Hello, my name is Mark Rakach, and I am really grateful to have the opportunity to participate in the Haller Program. The chance to meet new people, explore other cultures, and gain hands-on experience is something I have always been highly interested in, and I am enjoying my time in the program so far. I have never been to Western Europe, so I am intrigued to see how it contrasts with the Eastern parts. Furthermore, exploring smaller towns outside of large tourist destinations has always been something I seek out, as it provides unique perspectives. Academically, I hope to see the inner workings of smaller companies and how they function while growing in size, which I am excited to help with.

Regarding myself, I grew up in Mt. Lebanon, just outside the city of Pittsburgh, so the change in scenery is a nice breath of fresh air. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer with friends, drawing, and learning new languages. I was also part of the chess club at my school and still enjoy playing recreationally. At the University of Pittsburgh, my intended field of study is Finance, which I chose because I have always enjoyed analysis and math. Overall, I look forward to exploring the culture in Ireland and connecting further with my peers.
