Post Internship Reflection

Thank you so much for your generous support, which made my international internship in Stockholm, Sweden, possible. These past eight weeks have been a life-changing experience that allowed me to grow personally, academically, and professionally. Living and working in a new country expanded my worldview and pushed me beyond my comfort zone in the best way. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and for everything I’ve learned during my time abroad.

On a personal level, I’ve gained a much deeper sense of independence and self-confidence. Navigating a foreign city, adapting to a new culture, and even traveling solo to places like Oslo and Amsterdam showed me that I’m capable of handling unfamiliar situations on my own. I’ve also built strong friendships with other international students and young professionals, which made my time abroad even more meaningful and taught me the value of connecting with people from different backgrounds.

Academically, this experience has added a new layer of depth to my studies. Being immersed in a different cultural and professional environment allowed me to see how concepts I’ve learned at Pitt apply in real-world, global contexts. I now understand the importance of cultural awareness and flexibility in any field, and I look forward to bringing that insight into the classroom, especially in group work and discussions that benefit from diverse perspectives.

Professionally, my internship helped me grow in ways that go far beyond technical skills. I contributed to meaningful projects, met deadlines, and built strong working relationships with my colleagues. By the end of my time at the company, I felt trusted and respected as a team member. I also learned how to communicate across cultural and language differences, something that will be incredibly valuable in any future workplace I’m a part of.

One of the biggest lessons I’m taking away from this experience is the importance of stepping into unfamiliar environments in order to grow. Whether it was presenting my work to a team, exploring a new city alone, or learning to navigate cultural differences, I was constantly challenged in ways that helped me develop resilience, adaptability, and perspective. I now feel more prepared to take on future opportunities, both academically and professionally.

As I return to Pitt, I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned from this international experience. I plan to be more engaged in global conversations on campus, to share what I’ve learned with peers who may be considering study or internships abroad, and to approach future academic and career opportunities with greater confidence. Thank you again Sweden for your support, it truly made a lasting impact on my personal and professional journey.
