Week 7: Let’s end it all where we started

As I wrap up my seventh week of my internship in Stockholm, I’m amazed at how quickly time is flying by. This week felt like the perfect balance between professional progress and personal exploration. I was able to stay focused and complete most of my work early in the week, which gave me a great sense of accomplishment and allowed me to fully enjoy my weekend plans without stress. With my tasks wrapped up, I felt confident taking time for myself to travel and experience something new.

For the weekend, I took a solo trip to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, which is a city I’ve always wanted to visit. Traveling alone gave me complete freedom to explore at my own pace and truly soak in the experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the city’s energy, lively, artistic, and full of history. Walking along the canals, exploring the neighborhoods, and just taking in the architecture made for a memorable few days.

One of the most valuable parts of this trip was how many new people I met along the way. Whether it was other solo travelers at my hostel, people I chatted with at cafés, or locals who gave me recommendations, it reminded me how easy it can be to connect with others when you’re open to it. These spontaneous conversations and shared moments added a whole new dimension to the trip. It’s amazing how much you can learn just by talking to people with different backgrounds and stories.

Another highlight was diving deeper into the rich history. I visited several museums, including the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum, which really opened my eyes to the cultural and historical depth of the city. Learning more about the World War II era from a different perspective, seeing Dutch art up close, and understanding the city’s evolution over the centuries was incredibly inspiring and humbling. It made me appreciate how much travel can teach you, far beyond just sightseeing.

Back in Stockholm, I returned with a fresh mindset and a renewed appreciation for both the routine of my internship and the excitement of exploring new places. Finishing most of my work before traveling gave me a sense of discipline and balance that I’m proud of. I’m starting to see how this experience is helping me grow, not just as an intern, but as an independent person capable of navigating both work and life abroad.

Overall, week seven was one of the most rewarding weeks so far. I managed to meet deadlines at work, dive into a new culture, make new connections, and learn things I’ll carry with me for a long time. As I head into the next week, I’m feeling more energized and grateful than ever. Traveling solo continues to push me out of my comfort zone and teach me lessons I couldn’t learn any other way and I’m excited for wherever the next adventure takes me!
