One of the biggest challenges I have experienced while living in Italy has been adjusting to differences in daily routines and communication styles. Things like store hours, restaurant schedules, and transportation can be very different from what I am used to at home. For example, many places close in the middle of the day or operate on a different schedule than I expected. At first this made it difficult to plan things, but over time I have learned to be more flexible and patient. Planning ahead and asking locals or classmates when I am unsure has helped me manage these differences better.

In the classroom, I have also experienced some uncertainty because the structure and expectations can feel different from what I am used to. Many of my classes rely heavily on discussion and creative thinking rather than strict lectures or step-by-step instructions. Sometimes assignments or expectations are less clearly outlined than I am used to. To navigate this, I try to stay organized, ask questions when I need clarification, and communicate with classmates so we can help each other understand the material.

Cross-cultural interactions have been one of the most interesting parts of this experience. Meeting locals and students from different backgrounds has helped me see how culture influences communication, perspectives, and daily life. These interactions have made me more open-minded and aware of how different people approach situations. At the same time, living in another country has helped me reflect on my own identity and the values I bring with me from home.

Overall, adapting to a new culture has pushed me to become more independent and flexible. Even when situations feel uncertain, learning how to navigate those challenges has helped me grow both personally and academically.
