One of the most meaningful trips I had while abroad was going to Morocco. It honestly felt like a completely different world, and I got to experience so many new things that I would never normally do and likely won’t have a chance to again. The whole trip felt really immersive, which made it stand out among the rest of our travels. One of my favorite parts was the food. We ate traditional meals together, and everything was so good and different from what I’m used to. It was so fun trying new things. I also loved driving through different neighborhoods in our van because it felt like we were really seeing how people live there, not just seeing the main tourist areas. Everything was so colorful and busy, and I distinctly remember looking out the window of the van the whole ride taking it all in.Another part that really stuck with me was wearing a headscarf and different outfits and receiving henna. It was such a cool experience and made me feel more connected to the culture. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way. The most unforgettable part was spending a night in the desert. At night, there was music, and people were playing drums, singing, and dancing with us around a fire. We even got to join in and try the drums, which was really fun. Being there with everyone felt surreal. It was one of those moments where I just kind of paused and took everything in. It felt really different from anything I’ve done before!I think this experience helped me grow because it made me more open to trying new things and less nervous in unfamiliar situations. I feel more comfortable just going for things now instead of overthinking everything. It also made me appreciate different cultures more and realize how much there is to experience outside of what I’m used to. It’s something I’ll definitely remember for the rest of my life!
