Today we heard from Honors College Associate Dean Dave Hornyak and Director of Global Experiences Bryan Schultz about programs and scholarship opportunities presented in the Honors College and Global Business Department! As I listened, the Bachelor of Philosophy research degree and Plus3 program particularly peaked my interest. As I plan to pursue a prelaw track as of now, I would love to research the impacts of recent legislation on international communities, a goal that may be fulfilled by both opportunities offered by Pitt. I have always had an affinity for travel and understanding new cultures–specifically languages–so this would be a passion project for me. With that in mind, my top priority now remains relationships with faculty. I realize now that my professors will play a crucial role in my transition between academics and career, a concept less present in high school. As a principal takeaway, they are the gateway to educational pursuits outside of the classroom, whether that include research, recommendations, or network building. Pitt also has abundant scholarship opportunities that make these study abroad/research opportunities largely accessible and financially feasible. I learned today about many national and university scholarships alike that I can apply for with the help of university staff. Needless to say, my to-do list for this year is filling up!
