It has already been a little over a week since I arrived in Sydney. The most difficult part of my trip so far has been getting over the jet lag, but it’s getting better every day. During my first few days we had lots of orientation activities. I’ve met lots of great new friends and have been getting settled into my routine.
I started my internship at Esho Ventures this week and so far it’s been great. I love how modern the office environment is and how willing my site supervisor is to teach me. I have already published my first market research article and am looking forward to the work I will do in the next few weeks.
I have also started my International economics class, which only has about 10 people in it. The small class size has given me an opportunity to meet and talk with the other students much more than my larger classes at Pitt. The class is moving at a faster pace because it is only 3 weeks long but so far it has been interesting and I look forward to learning even more about the global economy.
Outside of class I have been exploring the city and all it has to offer. I have had lots of great food and great nights out with my new friends. We have gone to some of the beaches including Bondi and Manly which have some of the best views I have ever seen. We also went on a boat tour of the Sydney Harbor and got to look at the opera house. One thing I want to do that I haven’t gotten a chance to yet is the Coogee beach walk, which I have heard has absolutely amazing views.
Overall I have enjoyed everything about Sydney and I have so much more that I want to fit in over the next 5 weeks. There is so much to do and lots to look forward to!
