Hey Everyone!
My time in Berlin has officially ended, sadly. I have learned a lot about the world and myself. After this experience my eyes have been opened to a lot of opportunities. I realized that I love traveling and meeting people from all over the world. Not only this, but I was able to realize that there are internship and job opportunities all over the world, not just in the United States. People are constantly being hired abroad, and just because you leave for a while doesn’t mean you can’t come back some day. While I love Pittsburgh, this trip has made me realize I need to go see the world more often, including within the United States. Maybe an internship abroad next summer or on the West Coast!
Some advice I would give to people traveling would be to always utilize your carry on. First, if you can fit all your clothes into a carry on, do it. It will save you a lot of money in fees. If however, you need to use a checked bag, you must put everything important in your carry on. I experienced losing my luggage when I flew to Berlin. I went two weeks with none of my stuff, only the clothes on my back. You do not want this to be you, as it is expensive and time consuming. To minimize the stress, make sure you check your tags before they take the baggage and of course put extra clothes and valuables with you on the plane. The good news was though that I did get my luggage back eventually.
My final reflection is that Berlin is a beautiful city. It offers so much and the people were more than helpful (and all speak English). I met a ton of amazing people from all over the world, and got teaching lessons from the President of the University. I may have lost my luggage, but I had the time of my life. Be sure to go abroad when you get the opportunity, you won’t regret it.
For the Last Time,
Jack
