Orientation Week

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the delay in blogging. I have been in Ireland for just over a week now and it has been incredibly busy. I flew into Dublin on an overnight flight that left Philadelphia at 9:00pm and arrived in Dublin at 8:00am. Once off the plane I was surrounded by signs from KPMG, the accounting firm I’ll be working for this summer. I took this as a great sign for my first five minutes in Ireland!

Upon arrival, I met about half of the students that are in my study abroad program. They are all extremely nice and from all over the states! Once everyone arrived, we took a short bus ride to DCU campus and were able to unload our stuff and settle down. Then we went shopping! We went to a mall, about a 15 minute walk from campus, where we bought sheets, towels, and other necessities for our rooms. Once we were back on campus and settled, I got to know the rest of the students from the program and had a nice night out at the pubs, including Temple Bar, one of the most famous pubs in Dublin!

The next few days were filled with orientation lectures on health, safety, and new cultural customs! Although I usually don’t enjoy lectures, I found these talks incredibly insightful and helpful. I also loved the two walking tours we took in downtown Dublin because they helped me get my bearings and understand where the various stores and restaurants are downtown.

Slowly, but surely, I am figuring things out! I feel settled on campus and I am comfortable using local transportation so I’d say this first week has been a success!

Enjoy some pictures below & see you all soon! xoxo
