These past couple months have been some of the best months of my life. I’ve travelled to many different places, seen plenty of London, and gotten a great experience out of my internship. However, all of this is on the surface, and I’ve definitely had my fair share of struggles while I’m over here. Below I’ve named some things that I’ve struggled with since I’ve been over here.
Firstly and most importantly, I miss my family. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not easy being so far away from everyone. Having a different phone plan over here isn’t really a problem, because I use FaceTime to talk with people anyway. However, since I’m quite busy throughout the week with work and school, and I occasionally travel on weekends on sightseeing trips around London or to other countries, I don’t get as much time as I would like to talk to them. However, I know they’re all happy that I’m here and enjoying my time, and I can’t wait to see all of them when I get home.
Since I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had a lot of time to exercise. Although I get plenty of steps everyday by walking a mile or so from my tube stop to my office, I got much more exercise back home by going to the gym four or five days a week. It’s hard because I simply don’t have a lot of time between making plans to travel on weekends and working during the week and studying for my classes. Though annoying, I have been able to learn the value of time management, and how to keep your priorities when faced with dilemmas.
Finally, I kind of miss being at Pitt as well. Even though I am loving every single day that I’ve been here, at the same time, I miss being with my friends and roommates back at Pitt. However, I’ve stayed in good contact with them throughout my time so far, and just like my family, I know they’re all happy that I’m enjoying my time here. I’m excited to meet up with them in the fall and talk about my incredible experiences that I’ve had so far.
Those are just three things that I’ve had a decent amount of struggle with since I’ve been over here. Obviously this isn’t all of the issues or problems, but these are three that I’ve really wanted to address and fix since I’ve been here. Next week, I may talk about Kilburn and the housing situation, but I’m not entirely sure.
