Thoughts on Being a Full Time Resident of London

Overall, I truly believe that London has been the perfect location to spend my semester abroad. Over the course of the three and a half months that I have been here, I have come to the realization that this would be a city I would very easily be able to live in full time. If I were to become a full time resident of the United Kingdom and the city of London, I would want to live in a very similar location to where I have been living this semester. I am currently living in the West End of London and have very much gotten used to the area and would easily be able to live here full time. Although it is not the most affordable area of the city, it has a lot to offer in terms of activities, food, and shopping. In terms of having a professional role in London if I were to become a full time resident here, I would very much enjoy working at one of the financial institutions in the center of the city or in Canary Wharf. London is an extremely relevant financial center in the world and has a lot to offer when it comes to opportunities in this field. Additionally, both the center of the city and Canary Wharf are extremely accessible from the West End of London through the use of the tube and other forms of public transportation. Although I have seen many different areas and experienced many different parts of London, there are certainly more aspects of the culture that I would strive to experience if I were a full time resident here. One thing in particular that I would like to see more of is the United Kingdom outside of solely the city of London. While London is the biggest and most recognizable destination in the United Kingdom, many people that I have talked to here have told me that London is just a small part of the culture of the entire nation. Being here full time would give me the opportunity to explore much more of that culture and explore different aspects of life as a resident of the UK outside of a huge city. Over the course of this semester, this city has begun to feel like home to me. I certainly do not mind the idea of becoming a full time resident of the beautiful city of London.
