Summer in Berlin!

Hello! My name is Vivian Li and I am a senior here at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying Statistics and Information Science as my majors and Music as my minor. After graduate, I’m planning to study data science, data analytics or some other related areas for my graduate study and I will receive my undergraduate degrees this December. I started to play the piano since I was three years old, so studying music is just for my personal interests. I’m especially interested in music composition even though I don’t really know much about it. I’m listening to all kinds of music in various languages. Other than my academic study, I like dancing and now taking an officer role in one of the dance clubs at our university three years already. To enjoy life, to do things I like and to try things I have never done so is my faith for life. I’m also doing some volunteer activities in summers.

I like traveling, to experience a different culture. This is also part of the reason why I choose to do the international internship in Berlin this summer. Being an international student studying in the United States, I do not speak any German. Therefore, it will be a real challenge for me do the internship for two months in another different country. But I’m really excited about it . This is a great chance for me to learn, to explore a different country; and I’m sure working there will be another great and unique experience, especially after I have done an internship in China last summer and I am working in school here in the United States. Thus, different from past traveling experiences, this time is not solely traveling but to live as a local.

Berlin, the capital city of Germany, is also one of the international cities. I have never been to Berlin before but some other cities of Germany like Munich and Dusseldorf. I have heard about that Berlin is very different and it is more traditional compared to Munich, the economic center of Germany. Cannot wait to be there and live for two months. See you soon Berlin!
