Bloody Sunday

A challenging part of Irish history that I’m interested in learning more about is Bloody Sunday. Until today I hadn’t heard about it, but after a quick search and reading an article about it, it peaked my interest. In 1972, British Army paratroopers injured and killed unarmed Irish civilians that were protesting the British policy of internment of suspected Irish nationalists.  This event interested me because it reminds me of when the British had control of the U.S. before it became independent and were unfair tyrants. This also makes me wonder how Ireland became free from the British and became the country it is today. Hopefully while we are in Ireland I will get to learn more about how they became independent of the British.
