I have always been interested in the history of Irish conflict and connection with England and the British Isles. Dating back the Anglo-Saxon expulsion of the Celts from the Isles, there has been a long history between the two islands and their people. Through world history classes and TV shows I have learned a lot about historic Irish relations with Britain and their various rebellions, but I know little about “The Troubles.” The concept of ancient bad blood manifesting itself in the modern era is very interesting to me. I also love U2 and the Cranberries so… But the religious and patriotic sentiment behind these conflicts is interesting, and I feel as though the actual fighting is not well known to my demographic. These events ended lives and changed many more just a few decades ago, but I have never learned about it.
