Hello, my name is Sydney Sparks and I am an incoming freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. Here I plan on pursuing my interest in finance as a student of the College of Business Administration and the Honors College. I am from Baldwin, New York where I’ve lived my whole life and have recently graduated from Baldwin Senior High School. During my time there I was able to create close-knit relationships with my teachers who’ve helped me learn about the business world. In addition to this, I was able to take a number of business classes where I discovered my true passion for business. Aside from school, I enjoy playing softball and teaching younger kids how to play basketball. I also enjoy watching soccer. Força Barça!
I wanted to participate in the Haller Global Honors Fellowship because I wanted to connect with my new classmates, the Pitt Business staff and our global clients. I felt it would be a great introduction to global studies to see if this is something I want to pursue in the future as a part of my business career. Studying abroad is something I definitely want to do during my time at Pitt which is why I felt that this was too good an opportunity to pass up. This program is beneficial because not only will it help me gain insight on consulting but also the study abroad programs that Pitt has to offer.
I am a part of team two which is focusing on the volunteering aspect of the project. My role in this project is the closer, which involves making sure that we have concrete evidence and examples to back up our ideas for our client and also make sure that these tasks that we are giving our client are feasible. From this program I hope to learn to better collaborate with others, experience the world of consulting and make new friends before stepping onto campus! The intense level of research and development from this project will prepare me for the college workload.
I am so excited to create a great presentation with my team for our client while learning more about global business! I am very grateful for the opportunity that the Haller family has provided me! Hail to Pitt!
